If you spotted Tuesday’s little tweak to TopGear.com you might be wondering where Foreman and Cupholder have gone.
Following our big relaunch back in October last year, we’re planning some further revisions to TopGear.com, based on your feedback and research we’ve carried out into the way people use the site.
One of the things we’ve decided to do is simplify our news and blogs sections. We think it’ll be easier for you to find stuff if we don’t split it all up. We only have one place for ‘The News’ on the telly, so we thought we’d only have one place here.
And that’s under the ‘News’ tab in the main navigation. There you’ll find news split into three simpler categories: car news, telly stuff and Formula One. Easy. Don’t worry, under ‘car news‘ we’ll still have all the life-endangering YouTube clips and insider industry stuff, only they’ll be easier to track down.
But these things never stop moving. Since pulling the lever on the new TopGear.com last October we’ve been constantly tinkering and improving the site – and we’ve even more plans for the next few months.
If you want your voice heard while we’re fiddling with what is, essentially, your website, you’ve got two options: drop us a line or leave us a note here on this blog (we will be reading them).
Do you want more web-exclusive video? Content from the presenters? More serious car info? More games? Or just more stuff blown up? Let us know. Please.

i think that the site needs more serious car info like the stuff the foreman usually writes about
also wots happened about those new blogs horsepower and transmission or wotever they were called
Can you make the videos viewable overseas?
I think that a lot of people would like to be able to access the older information on this site through some sort of archive. Maybe a page where stuff is listed, or something like that, so it can be referenced at later dates.
is site needs more games.its not fun playing those same 3 over again how about a create a limo game or a destroy a caravan game.
you need more GAMES! like a create a limo game and destory a marina game
I find the more serious car industry news from the Foreman interesting and it’s not too frequent which keeps up the fun nature of the site. If possible try make all videos available outside of the UK and also a good series by series guide of videos would help. The Cupholder stuff is good mindless fun, Tom does a great job of finding some random stuff!
What will happen with the RSS feeds for the older headings if everything is put under “news”?
most of the articles on here are from the magazine, which begs the question, why buy the magazine. Dare I say it but the Fith gear web site actually has dedicated web video articals done by GBH or HGV, you know who I mean.
I think you should have kept them all apart from each other. I always thought that the Cupholder and Foreman were different, with the Cupholder being the “mucking about with cars” blog and the Foreman being the more sensible one. And no more Transmission? Why can’t that one – at least – survive!
I’ve left this comment on all the affected blogs, so I hope it will have triple the effect!
A few problems:
Firstly, there is still no Horsepower Blog. Secondly, everyone had just got used to new TG.com, and now it’s being changed again.
But mostly new TG.com is far better than old TG.com.
Actually, one other thing. Please put all the blogs in the news section.
The best thing about the Old New TG.com (getting more confusing than the Mini) was all the most interesting stuff (except from car news) was on the 1 blogs page. Less clicking on different tabs.
I think- actually, I think exactly the same thing as I did HERE >> http://cupholder.blogs.to pgear.com/2009/09/02/wher es-cupholder/ <<
More games!
I will be delighted if you were to make the videos available overseas. I believe it is unfair for a person living in Japan not to be able to watch May and Hammond banging heads in the Porsche…
games and more clips from the show
you absolutly have to keep transmission, there arn’t many things on the wesbite to do with where this all comes from – TOP GEAR TELLY SHOW – and transmission was actully related to that. also maybe you could put other things on like the link to add the tg google gadget to your igoogle page.
love the show, love the website and look forward to the new layout, but agree it would be good to see the videos (ALL the videos — I could watch Ron Dennis f’rinstance) here in Canada.
need lots more games!
eye agree with oj, does need more games
e.g. see how long you can stay on your skis
whilst being towed by lots of different cars.
could you bring back the cool wall maker game please? pretty please?
anyone know where to find an online list of the track records from Stig… I would love to see the list of cars from fastest to slowest…
Thanks,
Drew
the blogs were good – why ditch them for the sake of a bit of simplicity?
More games.
What this site desparately needs is a forum. Then we’ll all be able to talk about new cars, recent episodes and other stuff. If it does go through….can I be a moderator!!
I think it needs more pineapples.
damn i found this post only now!
i really dislike the comment sistem of the news section and i like this, but at the same time it’s boring to write every time my name and it’s less safe for everybody because everyone can post with every name he want. another thing i like is to know the name of the writer of the articles. and i like foolish chit-chattering about classic car and silly car related stuff. And some good technical articles just to understand everything a bit more.
i wish to see some good change at the site asap, i miss my daily foreman a lot.
It’s completely unacceptable that, in a network that is supposed to provide free, advertisement-empty programmes(I mean, aside from TV fees), we the people outside British Isles are unable not only to watch the programme once it`s broadcasted online via this website but to watch those videos from one or two seasons ago…If you’re unable ‘cos of BBC player, coudn’t you upload evthing to youtube instead?
i think its a good idea coz it will be easier 2 find stuff! good job boys! xxxxxxx i lv TG
Why can’t I see the videos on your site just because I live in France?
Why do you constantly use TopGear instead of BBC Top Gear?
And quite self-confessing of you to rate telly on a par with cars and Formula One – separately. That’s the point – that’s the point, I tell you, – Formula ONe isn’t about cars.
I rather liked your depicting my SAAB as a spiky-fangy thing. You still have a way to go.
You’ll get punished for blasting a Rover.
For those outside the UK: If you’re using Firefox or Opera, go to userscripts.org and search for this site. And install Greasemonkey (if your browser of choice is Firefox), if you’ve not done so. Otherwise, most of the videos uploaded here (though not all of them) are on their Youtube channel; and those are accessible to everyone worldwide.
Site-wise…
* A photo gallery link (even if you have to put it under “TV Show). The galleries get a featured link on the main page for a brief time; but after a while, they can never be found again unless you bookmark the buggers. The Transmission blog post compiling the links to all the Series 13 galleries was a step in the right direction; but I think you all could expand on that.
* RSS feeds for the guys’ columns, perhaps featuring them more often on Transmission?
* More web-exclusive content — videos, stuff from the boys, that sort of thing.
* For the blogs, enable monthly archives. Looking for old blog posts on here can be very tedious. Going by tags doesn’t really help.
I’d like to see a much bigger archive in the news section more like it used to be on the old topgear site. Also I miss to tinkery stuff on the old site like that coolwall thingy and those top 100 lists. And the games… You should have kept the old games to and had these new ones. We need more games please so we can waste time=)
Let me see the outtakes even though I’m in Sweden?
For those stuck inside the UK: I’ve seen Firefox, Opera, Chrome, and a couple more. Seriously, my heart is with IE 6.0 and Netscape for Mac OS X 10.2.
But times change…
Should you like to learn about more, more, moooooree, MORE greasy software, use this link:
- install Firefox (have you tried some more cooly stuff from mozilla.org?)
- find that ‘Plug-ins’ dialog box
- use it as you see fit
Am i alone in thinking that aston martins are all boring? to me thet all look the same and have for the past 15 years yet the Porsche 911 is mocked for the same thing?i challange anyone to recognise which aston it is from the front and then we have the 177 which is an aston which has been raped by a slr merc i just think if there gonna be in the company of “supercars” they should be more of an event in design rather than the mondeo of the the super cars
OK so I’m sad but I really used to enjoy the reasonably priced car game. If you have the original floppy disk if was on can you reload it?
Top Gear Test Track times front and right, cars linked to video of run
Universal video player so I can watch said videos in a country formally owned by your Queen.
Thanks to shelly for the site!
I’d really like some more games, though I’m a bit obsessed with Office Drive right now (but I’m rubbish). There should be a Gallery Section, so I could find older galleries as well, not just the new ones. Though I love this site anyway.
And why should all those Aston Martins be not boring [for the certain kind of people]?!
You see: it’s an Aston Martin?!! What else?!!
How many second-hand Aston Martins sell a day?!
After all, you could always say that 911 is, basically, a 6-cylinder Volkswagen Beetle…
Read the specs…
The thing that i like most on this site is that it gives relevant info to all the readers.Car shows new cars all that, there are many othr sites that do that, but they spit out absolutely everything that they get in ther email box.And the other thing that i love is the content from the presenters blogs column’s if there were more of those i’ll explode with plesure:)
I know that the boys are insanely busy, but some more input from them would be great if they had time.
I love all the exclusive outtakes and videos. Definitely keep them, and all the gems of videos you manage to dig up on Youtube!
all of clarksons times pages should be on the website…
come on southend don’t go bust…
does anyone know who i am
I miss the Cool Wall on old TG.com!
D:
And more games please.
And definitely keep the car news coming.
You may be as passionate about Golf so that to put an old one against a Volvo, but haven’t you forgotten, “boys”, who pays you money?
“Here here” to more availability of video content overseas. I am in Mexico and dearly hate to see that dreaded black screen. Please work out those legal issues so we can all enjoy!
Otherwise: More serious content…by all means, but lets not lose all that fun and games: I love the naughty.
