So said Business Secretary Lord Mandelson this week as he outlined a package of government support for the struggling domestic car industry. The £2.3bn package was labelled ‘small beer’ by shadow business secretary and former Chancellor Ken Clarke, and queried by manufacturing union general secretary Derek Simpson. Perhaps, but it’s a start.
