If you want to know what’s been ailing Saab all these years, today’s unveiling of the 9-3X wagon is a good place to start. Saab actually invented this car seven years ago. But GM bungling means it hasn’t been released until now.

Honda knifes the new NSX

Concept version of the new V10 NSX

In a shattering volte-face, Honda has cancelled the NSX replacement. It was due to be unveiled within weeks. Japanese companies normally set huge store by consistent long-term planning. And it pulled the plug on F1 a couple of weeks ago. It all shows how desperate the economic climate is for everyone.

Alfa’s yo-yo SUV

Alfa is finally settling on its SUV crossover plan. If you’ve a very long memory, you’ll recall the 2003 concept, the Kamal. It was conceived as a sporty baby crossover, smaller than a BMW X3. After a period in the wilderness, it’s back on track.
